Today is actually 12/27, and I have put off making any entries because I cannot upload images, but I thought I would at least enter the text before I forget, and then I can upload the photos later when the website is working properly.
On Tuesday, the 23rd, I went into David with Ted and Pam. Ted had received a call from Pricemart (Costco), that the hot tub he ordered had come in, so he wanted to go in and make arrangements for the delivery. We probably should have thought this trip through a little bit because being the 23rd, the traffic was horrendous! We first went to a couple of other stores: Conway (Target - they even have the same target logo); Claro (Ted wanted to ask about the router), and Arrocha (a larger department store similar to Macy's). Dan wanted me to look for Cetaphil. I found it at Arrocha, but it was $38/jar, so needless to say I didn't get that. Before heading over to Pricemart, which is also where we planned to do some grocery shopping, we had lunch at The Steak House, which is a very good Chinese restaurant. Ted and Pam were a bit shocked when I ordered octopus, but they both tried it and discovered that they really liked it. Pam and I had margaritas. They didn't taste anything like the margaritas I am familiar with, and at first I thought they were very weak. I changed my mind about 10 minutes later when I realized I was the only one talking. :)
When we arrived at Pricemart it was like a circus. There were so many people; the checkout lines (at least 10 or so) were 10 to 15 people long. Ted, who seems to be a pretty mild mannered sort of guy was trying really hard to control himself at the checkout. I think his mood was affected by the fact that he discovered that yes, indeed, the hot tub was there at the store for him, but the store provided no delivery. He was on his own for that. He obviously had not anticipated that, so he was not a happy guy. Pricemart is one of those places where you can't just buy a package of pasta; you have to buy six. But the prices are very good, and they have the Kirkland branch, which I learned through Denise & Randy, is very good. So we bought a few things there and then ended our excursion with a stop at a huge grocery store called Rey. If Dan and I had a car, I would likely shop there once a week. But as it is I will have to depend on invitations from Ted and Pam. That's fine, Romero, the little grocery store in Boquete, coupled with the fresh-food vendors in town, meets most of our needs.
