So, by popular demand... actually I should say by Pat (Morse) demand, I'm just going to write a little wrap-up.
What went right?
Just about everything. The climate in Boquete is by far the best I have ever experienced anywhere in my very long life. It rained twice while we were there, and I only remember once. The sun was shining and the temperature perfect every single day - almost to the point of being taken for granted, but thanks to regular news from Wisconsin and a very good memory (for freezing), I felt overjoyed every day to be able to be there.
We met fabulous people and made some great friendships. Ted & Pam - what a huge blessing to be planted right across the street from two of the nicest, most generous people you would ever want to meet. Pia - thank you for being such an avid hiker and keeping Dan occupied in that department, so I could stay home and read. Audrey? What a gem. I look forward to our return and sitting working on a knitting project and having a glass of wine with one of the funniest women I have ever met. The Blue Sky Group was both a challenge and a joy, and because of going there I met Viviane, Jane Derry, Lorna Blake, Pat, Ria and others. The Newcomer's Get-togethers were always interesting on Friday nights. And ending up - by chance - in Volancito turned out to be quite fortuitous. The area has a number of micro-climates, and Volcancito hands down has the best climate.
What went wrong?
Not much. The early days were a bit trying, but that could be remedied. Next time we will have friends hunting down a rental for us. Also, although our Internet connection was initially troublesome, that was fixed with a few minor adaptations.
Would I do it again?
You bet. The plans are already in the works. Boquete is my winter home. My sister laughed at me the other day because when I referred to emails from Boquete, I said "I heard from home." :)
