We went into town today to find the travel agent to help us change Dan's ticket and to do a little shopping. I was happy to get this woman's name (Anavilma) from Pam to help me make this change. When I made one change at home, I was on hold for two hours, and I am not exaggerating - it may have even been longer. So this time I sought out the help of an agent; it wasn't much better. This time they wouldn't talk to her; they insisted they must talk to me, and then they put me on hold. This time it was for an hour and a half. When they finally answered they said they were sorry, but there was no one to help me today, and I had to call back tomorrow. From my reaction, Anavilma figured out what was going on and grabbed the phone away from me and gave them "what for." She said she was my relative and was just translating for me, so she got them to change the ticket, but they said our credit card didn't work, so I had to give them another. I didn't have our other one with me, so we have to call back!! Unbelievable. Just a word of warning, never, i repeat never use Avianca/Taca Airlines. Their customer service is nonexistent. So at the end of the transaction they assured us that the reservation has in fact been changed, and we can pay whenever we want. We can even wait until we get to the airport, but we have to pay for the difference in the current cost of the ticket, whatever the price may be at the time. Anavilma recomended I wait until well after the holidays and try again. She almost didn't help us at first because she said she refuses to deal with this airline, but I think she is just a terminally wonderful person and couldn't help herself, so she did this. I was so happy, but I will be happier still when we finish the transaction.
