We had dinner at Pia's on Wednesday. I love her little house. It is so perfect. It is exactly what I would like to have rented here, but alas these types of places are very hard to find to rent for only a few months.
Dan and Pia went for a hike yesterday. They left at 8:30 in the morning, and I got a bit worried when they were not back at 5:30. Dan finally showed up a little before 6, and said that Pia just wanted to keep going, but when he saw a big hill coming up, he realized they would never make it back before dark if they attempted it, so they did turn back. I told him from now on he needs to tell me what hike they are going on. Had something happened, I'd have no idea where to look.
We got a call Wednesday night from Katy Beyer's daughter, Mary, that Katy passed away. I was sorry that we didn't make the time to stop in and see her before we left. Katy was one of the most loving humans I ever met. She used to call us just to say how much she loved us and what a "cute couple" we were. She was definitely a role model for living a happy, loving life. Her recent Christmas card was signed, Love, Katy Beyer, 92 years old.. Mary said she was not sick, just passed away peacefully. Perfect.
Not much else going on here. We are just relaxing. I'm spending my days knitting hats for Tom's grandkids, reading Outlander (thanks Sara), watching Netflix (enjoyingTransparent right now), practicing the ukulele and getting my blisters built up, and then preparing dinner. Rough life, but one that was necessary. I got myself a bit stressed out with the meditation teaching before I left, so I decided to practice what I preach and allow just being and not so much doing. Time to practice retirement. :)
