Pia picked us up at 10:45 yesterday morning to head for the jazz festival in town. She had attended every day, but Dan and I chose to attend only Sunday. I'm happy that we made that decision. The music was great, but I'm not a fan of sitting in that blistering sun for hours on end. We stayed until the very end, which actually was pretty early, maybe 7 pm. We came home to a power outage. We borrowed an oil torch from Ted and Pam. They said that the power had been out since about 11 a.m. A tree apparently had gone down up the hill a way and took the power lines down with it. I was happy that everything was back on this morning, otherwise we would have had to head into the library so that Dan would have an Internet connection. Here are some shots of the jazz festival. The main stage is the amphitheater in Valle Escondido (where I golf). At night there are jam sessions at a number of the local restaurants. We didn't do any of those. I'm sure my sister, Kathy, and her Dan would have been all over that. This is the 8th annual festival. It is a nonprofit that raises money for the musical education of promising talent in the grade schools here. Their following and support is growing rapidly.
You in the sun - can't you do better than that? :) Maybe it is the idea of returning home to Wisconsin & all the snow! Well, the melt starts today. Shouldn't be quick - I think it will be nice & slow. I am greatly enjoying your blog. I will miss it when the 90 days is over. Maybe we could ask Ken to start blogging?!? :)

That would be me covered with the blanket. I bet you'll take an umbrella next time. That reminds me to start carrying my pocket umbrella when I take off next time for an outdoor event on a glorious sun shining day.

Well, I actually did have an umbrella. You can see it in the photo - black with the pink flowers. I had it up, but a guy from behind asked me to put it down. So I sat on the ground with the towel over my head and the umbrella in front of me to cover myself because I was wearing a sundress. :)
